How do you express queer identity under systems that demand and deny its legibility?
My performance of my gender identity is a habitual making of myself through established languages of presentation, like those of clothing and speech. To be perceived as myself in a socialized binary gender system is near futile;
I lean into failure so far that it is transformed.
In FABRICATION, I present you with three apparel sculptures called Book Bodies, and I ask you to consider your performance of yourself and every rift between what you communicate and what you experience. Stay awhile. Touch the art. Read it aloud.
