Commodities is a project that emerged out of the fantasy of the laborious artist: a fictitious figure who is always making art and has no time to eat or sleep or be a person. In this performance, I knit over 300 (and counting) balls whenever I would otherwise be idle. During meetings, lectures, at movies and plays, and even when reading, my hands are busy with four to five knitting needles. To participate in my performance, you may purchase its products for a price that fittingly undervalues the time and labor required to make each knit ball. Funds help support my art practice.
2021-ongoing
wool, sometimes a smidge of rayon, occasionally recycled acrylic (if you have a wool allergy but want a knit ball, email me)
